Why Natural is Best

Why Natural is Best and Real Works Better

Lots of words are thrown around to describe products that come from the earth and are not altered. There has been a lot of chatter about making some sort of measure for things like “natural”, “pure”, and “free of” by various government agencies. So far the natural, farm to table, and organic market place has policed itself enough to keep those measures from becoming law. Let’s hope we can continue to be responsible to our consumers, and ourselves.

What Does Natural Really Mean?

The dictionary.com definition of natural is “existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind.” That is pretty much where we are at in terms of our products at Vid. We know that less is usually more, that the closer to the materials provided by Mother Nature, the easier it probably is for our bodies to assimilate. There is an old saying among people dealing with what goes into formulas that if you cannot say it or spell it, it probably does not belong inside you. While meant as a wry joke, there is some truth to the statement.

When dealing with a system as complex and unexplored to a great extent as the endocannabinoid system is in the human body, the system that CBD works with*, there is a lot of undiscovered territory. Several centuries back we had no clue about the human circulatory system, or even a few decades back, little information about how the human brain worked. Our scope of knowledge continues to expand and adapt as new understanding comes to light. Scientists are continuing to study and work towards understanding the highly complex, finely tuned major assemblage that is the human body and all its intricate systems. Some of those parts do have names you cannot spell or pronounce, but they exist and are part of the natural organism just as assuredly as your arm or eye is.

What does all this have to do with CBD Products?

Cannabis has been used since time began for treating what ails you and recreation. That is fact. While the ancients did not have long, hard to spell names for applying what they knew from the plant world to treat conditions, they had experience and tested by seeing and observing what happened after applying “A” to “B”.

One of the parameters scientists use to see if something fits their wider definition of natural, that being anything that is part of the physical world, is being able to test it to see if it truly is just made of things from the natural world. Just like the ancients did, modern science is continuing to test, to observe, to learn, what CBD, one of hundreds of cannabinoids in Cannabis, do and how they interact with the human condition. Besides cannabinoids there are terpenes, aromatic compounds that scientists believe trigger various reactions and responses in the cell structure, flavonoids, and other agents in Cannabis that work on an intricate, molecular level to integrate, change, adapt, or alter what is going on at the cellular level. And the whole grand picture works in tandem, each part contributing a unique key and piece in the puzzle to put together the whole. It is absolutely a new frontier in medicine that is based on very old tried and true methodology.

Total Spectrum CBD Oil is about as natural as you can get

Vid-CBD is dedicated to growing, manufacturing, and delivering the most natural, most complete, most unaltered CBD oil we possibly can to our customers. We know that putting things in your body is a lifestyle choice you make to improve your wellness*. We are deeply honored by the trust you put in our farmers, our tenders, our lab technicians, our scientists, our plant operators, our packers and shippers. We take your desires and trust very seriously, and we thank you.

Why is packaging so important for CBD oil?

When we talk about natural, we mean just that. Natural, besides coming from the planet, also implies protection from chemicals and agents that do not belong in something you may want to consume. That is why we use glass bottles that meet all UV-spectrum blocking requirements and triple seal all of our products. Glass in inert, in other words, it does not give off any compounds, fumes, or particles like plastic does. (CBD actually absorbs into plastic.) It helps maintain the integrity of the CBD product by blocking various waves in sunlight that could deteriorate your CBD oil. We strongly suggest that you never leave your CBD products in strong sunlight, such as on the dash or in the tray on the console of your vehicle. Both the heat and the light could break down your CBD, making it less potent.

Why Vid Uses MCT for CBD Carrier Oil

MCT is a science abbreviation for Medium Chain Triglycerides. MCT is an organic, man-produced product from a natural one, coconut oil. Coconut oil by nature is over 50% MCT to start, and MCT’s are easy to digest and provide healthy fats in your diet. What the processing does is convert the coconut oil into a denser, more compact, bioavailable compound of MCT. MCT used as a carrier oil, or base, for our total sphere aerial hemp oil provides protection for the CBD and extends its shelf life naturally for up to two years. And, all MCT used in all Vid products is 100% organic.

MCT by itself is an interesting powerhouse for humans. Among the things it does is provide peptide YY and leptin, both hormones that help you feel full. MCT has 10% less calories than the long chain triglycerides found in olive or avocado oils and nuts. MCT may convert to ketones, helping burn fat, and it processes in your system differently. It helps the growth of good bacteria in your gut, making everything else healthier in the process. Scientists now know that one of the most important organs for endocannabinoid work in the human body is the intestinal tract, so everything works together for a healthier outcome*.

Bio-Availability

MCT also is readily bioavailable, or something the body can easily and readily biologically process into fuel. You will hear us talk a lot about bioavailability. It is important as it provides the easiest, safest, surest way for the body to be able to utilize whatever you choose to put into it. It takes less energy, and the body has to convert less “stuff” to get to the good stuff and utilize it. Less processing, making things easier for the body to capture and move around, provides better utilization of nutrients and materials the body needs or can use.

MCT does not require bile to break down, making it easier for the liver to provide it directly to the body to burn. Scientists are studying how it reduces lactic acid in muscles, which is what makes you sore after a workout. MCT also is being studied as a way to help manage epilepsy, Alzheimer’s, and autism. Last, and important, is scientists have discovered that MCT has powerful fatty acids that fight bacteria and yeast growth. They do not know if it is due to MCT containing caprylic, capric, and lauric acids, or other factors as yet, but initial studies are encouraging for more natural ways to fight infections and fungus in hospitals and other areas where less chemicals could mean better outcomes for patients*.

Why We Do What We Do

All these things add up to why we use MCT as our carrier oil in our CBD products. Natural products that have added features and benefits is a win-win. At Vid we believe that Mother Nature had things figured out pretty good before we showed up, and we try to honor that. Of course, all things need to be done in moderation, and MCT should be not be added on top of your other caloric intake. Using good common sense. Being in a good state of balance is always the best choice, no matter what you are doing, taking, thinking, or creating.

You have our word on that.

Dosage

Before we start to tell you how and what to do with your full spectrum CBD hemp oil, there are a few things to remember or learn about so you know what you are doing matches up to the bottle you are holding in your hand.

All the information below is based on a total sphere, all aerial parts Vid-CBD hemp oil mixture. A mixture is when a substance is distributed through another substance with no chemical reaction. Why is this important? Some companies subject their hemp extracts to extreme heat, or other processes including chemical ones that do not include full distillation specific to removal of those chemicals. Sometimes the chemicals react, making other substances. This information will become a lot more important when you visit our pages about Vaping and Medicinal Use. It is important to know what is going into your body if your goal is wellness and well-being*.

All Vid products make use of all the aerial parts of the Cannabis plant. That means you are getting all the good stuff from everything that has been kissed by the sun, drunk from the clean waters of the Earth and fed on natural, organic nutrients only. When we extract the thick, sticky hemp oil from all those parts and blend them (the flowers, due to oil content, have to go through a slightly different process), we have a very highly concentrated, total spectrum hemp oil mixture of everything the hemp has to offer. Being a natural, organic, carbon based unaltered product, it is not stable without refrigeration. To make the hemp oil stable, we mix it with organic MCT – a medium chain triglyceride coconut oil, which makes the cannabinoids, cannaflavins (flavonoids), phenols and terpenes more bioavailable, or in other words, you can absorb them better and easier. MCT is highly nutritious and healthy in its own right, but the two as a mixture stabilizes the hemp extract, allowing it to be viable (good) for two years.

It is important to refrigerate your full spectrum hemp oil after you open it, but never allow it to freeze. Even though mixed with MCT, it will help the integrity of the product to maintain potency and especially keep the terpenes and cannaflavins intact. Both of those elements are delicate and can denigrate through incorrect storage.

Speaking of storage – never leave your bottle or container of any Vid hemp product in your car, in a window, or elsewhere that it is subject to heat, freezing, or high intensity artificial lights. You want to get all the best of what is available in your product, and just like any other organic product, it works longer and better if you take care of it.

What is the correct way to take total sphere, all aerial parts organic Vid-CBD hemp oil?

In every carton of Vid product you will find an instruction sheet. It is important to follow the instructions, and do not “jump ahead” unless you have already utilized a full spectrum, organic hemp oil product that is chemically comparable and you know how you body responds to particular dosages. Even then, please be reasonable and do not up a dosage until you have used our product. Due to our processes and proprietary hemp stains we use, our product is potent.

Assuming you are starting fresh, though, these are the instructions to correctly use the product:

1. Start with ¼ dropper from the 300 mg CBD mixture. This will be the .25 ml mark on your dropper, the bottom line. The bottom of the half bubble, or meniscus, should be at the line. Make sure to not have a drip at the bottom of the dropper tube, and squirt the oil under your tongue without touching the dropper to your tongue or mouth. Hold it under your tongue for 90 seconds, without swallowing, swishing, or moving the oil around. This allows the oil to absorb into your bloodstream, as this is the closest point to the surface your circulatory system goes in your body. Take this dosage once in the morning, and once in the evening. Try to take the dose at or near the same time morning and night for the best overall effect. Continue for 3 days.

2. If after 3 days you do not feel the desired effect(s) you are seeking,
increase the dosage by 100%, to the ½ dropper or .5 ml mark and repeat the same steps for 3 days.

3. If after 3 more days you still do not feel the desired effect(s) you are seeking,
increase by the same increment of 1/4 dropper/.25 ml. Continue this dosage increase pattern of ¼ dropper increase intervals until you reach the desired effect(s). This will determine your optimal dose.

How much am I really taking? How do I figure it out?

Hint: We have made it a whole lot easier and taken the guesswork and math stress out of properly using Vid-CBD oil as a supplement. See the aforementioned detailed instructions. But if you are interested, here you go.

There is a lot of misinformation out there about what is in bottles of CBD oil. Sometimes it is CBD, sometimes it is isolate mixed with who knows what. Sometimes it is hemp seed oil (a lot of times) and it has never seen anything that even looks like full spectrum CBD hemp oil extract. So the first thing you need to look at is the ingredient list and contents.

Calculating dosages is a little tricky, but you can figure it out pretty well if you want to know. Let’s go back and do some pesky math for you “need to know and suffered through metric” types.

If you look at a bottle of HPN full spectrum CBD hemp oil, you will notice two distinct things that look like measurements (because there are two distinct things),

Something that says “XXXX mg”

which is the total amount of hemp extract and its concentration in that mix, and another that says “30 ml”.

30 ml is how much is in the whole bottle, hemp extract mixed with MCT.

All of our full spectrum CBD hemp oil products are bottled in 30 ml quantities. Why? To maintain integrity and batch control. We know that once you open a bottle of our oil, and you take care to refrigerate it, it will hold for 2 years. With high spectrum, complete organic hemp extract there is no need to create big bottles that are mostly coconut oil, or more often, hemp seed or grape seed oil, with the same concentration as a small bottle, just to make you think you are getting a whole lot of something for your money, because you are not. You are paying for a weakened solution that is not going to have the potential to assist your wellness quest like concentrated, pure, organic, wide spectrum extract.

Look at the dropper in your bottle, and you will notice it marked off with the top line equaling 1 ml (one milliliter).

Doing a little math, that means that if you take ¼ of a dropper or .25 ml each time you take a dose, there are 4 doses per full dropper…. and one dropper = 1.0 ml.

 4 x 30ml = 120 doses total are in the bottle

if you are taking it in .25/ml amounts each time you dose. That means if you are taking that amount twice a day, 120 total doses / 2 = 60 days of oil. If you upped dosage to .5ml/twice a day, it would be a 30 day supply, and so on.

What if you hit the 1.0 ml mark and it is still not quite giving you the effects you are seeking? You need to continue to increase your dosage level, or increase the strength of the hemp extract you are using. Vid produces 300 mg, 600mg, 900mg, 1500mg, 2400 mg, and 3600 mg. If you are dealing with a health challenge, and the dosage schedule above is not meeting your needs, please call our specialists to discuss your particular situation.

How do I know if I need to Order a Stronger Concentration?

First let’s talk about concentration. You will notice on all our hemp oil products there is a number followed by “mg” or milligrams. Milligrams are based on 1000 mg = 1 gram, so when you see “300 mg”, that means there are 300 parts hemp extract per 1000 milligrams of product in that bottle. We offer 300mg, 600mg, 900mg, 1500mg, 2400mg, and 3600mg concentrations of full spectrum CBD hemp oil, all in 30ml bottles. Our CBD cream for pain (for topical use only) comes in 200mg, 500mg, and 1000mg, with a special blend to handle ouchies on children of 200 mg.

Due to the unique way cannabinoids work with each individual’s particular body, we suggest you follow the dosage instructions as stated. However, if you feel you are not getting the response you expect, or that your conditions, health concerns, or you have an immediate need to deal with something more demanding and would benefit from assistance, please contact “Call Ruby” at Vid-CBD, our trained specialists, at the numbers below. More is not necessarily better – listen to your body

More does not necessarily mean the right thing to do when it comes to cannabidiol oil. Everyone’s body is different, everyone metabolizes at a different rate, and everyone has their own list of prescription medications, supplements, the quantity of water you consume each day, and other things that are individual to them, and each person responds uniquely to their circumstances. .

Because of the unique way cannabidiol oil works to bind the endocannabinoids to the receptors, thus making them more bioavailable for the body to utilize, it is important to pay attention to what your body is telling you. While there are no known issues, ever, of an overdose of pure, organic CBD hemp oil, you can take too much and have a stomachache or an intestinal response. Usually this is when the product you are using has questionable ingredients, and is not a pure product like our Vid and other lines. It also is when you literally drink the stuff, and we do not mean a few drops of CBD oil in a smoothie. Yeah, we know, pretty weird to think about, but it does happen, so please, follow our dosage instructions for the best results.

You can, however, use too much or too strong a concentration beyond what your body needs to regain homeostasis or balance in the endocannabinoid and other systems. The usual response is your body will have a reverse effect on what you were gaining benefits to address and not feel as much response, or a significantly diminished response. You can always back down on your dosage and everything will be good. This is why we suggest keeping a log so you know when you took your dosage, how much you took, the concentration you took, and a few notes on how it made you feel. Once you get the hang of it and establish a healthy habit for timing and your own sweet spot for how you feel, you might not need to write it down. We have found, though, a log is very helpful when you start out, or when dealing with a new issue. We have placed a simple, handy CBD Log you can download to your device and fill out, or print and use an old fashioned writing utensil to keep track of things on, extra doodle space at no charge.

Microdosing – what is it and how do I do it?

Many people who utilize CBD oil as a supplement to improve their wellness and well-being* find that microdosing works really well for them.

Micro-what?

Microdosing is another way of utilizing your hemp oil to level out its effects on your unique metabolism and body. Usually done with medications that work on anxiety and mood, microdosing works similar to breaking meals into six small meals a day where you eat small portions and never get hungry or have the rush then reduction in glucose, protein, or carbohydrates, depending on the purpose you eat that way to achieve a particular result in your system. When you break your CBD doses into small portions spread over the day, there is some evidence that overall you may need a lesser total amount of CBD and will be less aware of the effects. If you are one of the people who tend to get sleepy after taking wide spectrum CBD oil, this might work for you. The challenge is to break your dosage down small enough and in even increments. It can be a challenge for people without titration equipment, but if you are on a sufficiently large dosage to help your system deal with a chronic issue, this might be the ticket for you.

Just like any use of CBD oil, you need to be consistent in time of day and how much you consume. Self-reporting research shows that making sure you use the same dosage each time seems to help with the consistent, even regulation of endocannabinoids so they can work with the body at top efficiency. As we find more research and information we can validate for you, we will make sure to put it on our page updates at Wellness and Think About It.

How do I know how much full spectrum CBD hemp oil I should take?

Everyone is different and has different issues, their metabolism is different, and their body reacts differently to different things. Weight, height, percentage of body fat, hydration levels, do make a difference, but not as much as what your body has going on chemically. Someone whose endocannabinoid system is under a lot of strain from outside stress, anxiety, environmental pollutants, PTSD, serious health concerns or other issues is going to react very differently than someone dealing with chronic pain. The more you listen to your system, the more you will sense a resolution to the symptoms* when the opportunity arises to help achieve wellness*. Only you can tell. HPN/Vid-CBD does not prescribe, recommend, or infer any cure or treatment. What you need to do for your own wellness* and well-being is up to you.

How is dosage tied to organic CBD oil?

A better question might be “Is dosage of a wide spectrum organic CBD hemp oil different than some other products?” and our self-reporting researchers offer a loud “Yes!” You will immediately notice it in the taste, fragrance, and feel when you utilize Vid-CBD products. The best word we can use is that it is all more pronounced, earthier, vivid, alive, all in a very pleasant way. Organic extracts with no artificial anything tend to be more bioavailable, more readily easy for your body to uptake, assimilate, and utilize, and often more potent. From that standpoint, we refer you to our dosage instructions. You may find that a much lower dosage to start provides much different, and usually improved, effects than other products you may have encountered.

Can I use the same CBD dosage for a child as I take?

There is a lot of research going into CBD and children, and recently the FDA approved the use of a very high potency, pure CBD isolate to be used as a treatment for two forms of rare but nearly always fatal epilepsy, Dravet’s Syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. Research is continuing on how CBD in lower doses may affect other forms of epileptic seizure, autism, ADHD, and other childhood health challenges. HPN stands firm to have you check with your child’s doctor or pediatrician before you start, add, or change any supplement in your child’s diet. Children respond differently than adults to many compounds, and CBD and cannabinoids are proving to be one of them.

Children metabolize things at a different rate and differently than adults do. It might seem odd, but research has shown that children can usually tolerate higher doses of Cannabis oil concentrates than adults. So far little has been put to trial regarding total spectrum CBD hemp oil with children. It is never a good idea to try and figure out an adult dosage based on literature for children’s or preclinical animal research, period. Please refer to the aforementioned dosage instructions that are based on many years of research at High Plateau Nutraceuticals, the makers of Vid-CBD.

Once you have spoken to your pediatrician or family doctor, if you have questions, please contact us. While we can not recommend or prescribe*, we can refer you to appropriate literature to further educate you on the current research regarding children and the potential use of organic CBD oil.

How do I figure out a dosage for my pets? I have read that CBD for dogs helps with arthritis and hip dysplasia.

Research into how animals respond to CBD oil usually is data from pre-clinical research projects. That said, many people have started utilizing full spectrum CBD products for their pets and livestock, and self-reporting is encouraging. CBD has been used for arthritis, pain and tissue healing related to hip dysplasia and injuries, intestinal disorders, and even behavioral issues in pets. Vid suggests you speak with a veterinary that already utilizes hemp extracts in their practice for dosage instructions and general information about what conditions hemp extract may assist with. A general rule of thumb for canines or felines is 1-5 mg of CBD oil per 10 pounds of body weight. If you are treating the animal for pain, it is suggested to administer it every 8 hours. If it is for other issues or to break unwanted behaviors, administering 1-2 times per day usually is adequate.

Different species have different amounts of receptors and therefore will respond differently and over different time frames. Generally you should be able to see a change in behavior, range of motion, or perceive comfort of the animal within 30-60 minutes. Make sure to provide plenty of clean filtered or spring water. Follow minimum dosage suggestions as any kind of oil may increase intestinal processing in any animal. Some animals also become sleepy when using CBD, so make certain they are in a safe environment at all times when administering the solution.

While allergic reactions are extremely rare in animals, it is always good to monitor them for reactions when first adding any supplement to their diet. It is also a good idea to follow the same standards for your pets and livestock as you do for yourself in choosing a whole spectrum CBD hemp oil product. Animals are much more sensitive as a rule to many toxins, pesticides, insecticides, and other materials. Using organically grown and produced product manufactured by knowledgeable people who have decades of background in animal husbandry is the safe bet. HPN’s founding staff have many years of zoological and animal husbandry background, and are actively involved in research utilizing Vid-CBD oil products as a natural supplement to improve health* in animals.

One thing anyone looking to add a hemp product into a pet, hoof stock, exotic, or other animal’s diet is this – THC can be deadly in very small doses to many animals. It is never suggested to use a medical or recreational Cannabis product intended for human consumption for your animals. HPN will be releasing a well-researched group of veterinary grade products for your critters in the near future, so watch our What’s News? area for an announcement.

Our Final Word on CBD Dosage and Use

Please, follow the dosage instructions. You will be glad you did, and we are pretty certain you will be very pleased with the improved well-being you experience*. We like to think our customers are here to begin with because they have some common sense about taking care of themselves how it was intended to start with way back when. Everything we do at Vid/High Plateau Nutraceuticals is about respecting your choice to take charge of your wellness. We try and do our part through growing and making the best organic full spectrum botanical hemp oil extract we can, one drop at a time.

You have our word on that.

Neuroprotection and the Blood-Brain Barrier

What Is a Neuroprotective Agent?

Neuroprotective agents are an exciting new field of study in pharmacology studying interventive agents that help protect the brain and its neural networks from the damage other things can create or cause. Neuroprotective agents are sought out to help prevent or counteract damage created by a medical treatment, usually a medication, which has the potential to cause problems when used as part of a treatment to “fix” something else. A common example of this is the damage chemotherapy causes to the body while fighting cancer cells. Often viewed as necessary, chemo carries its own complications.

Generally a topic held sacred to the world of ischemia stroke and brain tumor treatment, researchers now believe other compounds beyond the known drugs may provide protective barriers within the brain from potential damage, an important boost to treatment for patients whose bodies are already working hard to heal. To date many of the chemical intervention agents have included calcium blockers, free-radical scavengers, and narcotic antagonists, all with their own issues and to date, little success. Of more promising value are compounds already found to provide benefit elsewhere in the body, such as tocopherol (Vitamin E) and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C). Active, aggressive research is being conducted for aides that are more compatible with the body and have higher rates of tolerance and use by the various bodily systems.

Along with vitamins already known to have protective effects on cardiovascular health, other peptides and proteins are being investigated. The challenge is the blood-brain barrier, or how the compound crosses between the vascular system and the blood into and then affects the neurological systems of the body residing within the brain. Think of it as translating to another language, but on a physical level. Many of the challenges for understanding the way the brain works, utilizes nutrients, responds to chemicals, and other transfer actions rests on trying to bridge the difficulty of doing so across the blood-brain barrier. The blood-brain barrier is how the brain is protected by the body, and it does a terrific job, sometimes too terrific, because life saving medications or compounds have just as much difficulty transiting this “wall” as the bad guys, and the whole system is one that we truly do not understand very well as yet.

Why is Cannabidiol so Promising to Blood-Brain Barrier Research?

So far the research around cannabidiol in both animals and humans is promising. A number of brain function and brain protection mechanisms appear to be happening when CBD is present, due to how it affects the endocannabinoid system and the interaction with other cannabinoids through the entourage effect. In particular are the neuroprotective anti-inflammatory effects being seen, since CBD appears to decrease the production of cytokines, the messenger compounds that send signals to the brain and body about inflammation, immunity, and blood cell production. While cytokines should work in a healthy manner, they often do not and they go rogue. CBD appears to decelerate their signal mechanisms when they are out of balance. CBD also appears to help maintain blood flow through channels during ischemic events, or stroke, helping preserve vital brain functions, and may help reduce vascular and neural inflammation.

CBD research in animal models and humans has shown numerous therapeutic properties for brain function and protection, both by its effect on the ECS (endocannabinoid system) directly and by influencing endogenous (those produced by the body) endocannabinoids. Broadly, cannabidiol has demonstrated anxiolytic (reduces anxiety), antidepressant, neuroprotective anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory (a chemical that influences or benefits the immune system response) benefits. CBD decreases the production of inflammatory cytokines; influences microglial cells (specialized cells that remove damaged neurons and infections from the body) to return to a ramified (spread out) state, preserves cerebral circulation during ischemic events (your brain does not get as much damage), and reduces vascular changes and neuroinflammation (swelling of nerve tissue, a common issue with traumatic brain injuries).

What is the blood-brain barrier and why is it so important?

The BBB as it is referred is a barrier system the human body utilizes to block chemicals, pathogens, and other things from entering brain tissue. The barrier consists of tightly packed cells that line the capillaries of the brain, and are highly effective at stopping most things that try and get through. Some things pass with no problem, though, such as neurotransmitters (the chemicals that give messages to your brain), glucose, and certain amino acids. Since the brain uses a tremendous amount of energy to function, it has to be “fed” and glucose provides a good portion of the fuel by combining with the oxygen you breath. Amino acids are both building blocks and some, neurotransmitters. The BBB protects the brain cells from invasion by many chemicals that do not belong taking up residence, but is unable to protect from some other molecules such as alcohol. This is why you may hear someone say alcohol “kills” brain cells, because it literally can and does.

CBD appears not to have a problem getting through the blood-brain barrier

Cannabidiol is just one of the 200 identified cannabinoids in Cannabis. All cannabinoids are what are called 21-carbon molecules, and are very similar to endocannabinoids made by the human body. While CBD is not psychotropic, it does not cause a euphoric feeling or altered mind state when consumed; it is from a purely biological perspective psychoactive, meaning it is able to cross the blood-brain barrier. Not every compound in Cannabis has the ability to pass through the blood-brain barrier, such as THCa, the precursor to THC. THCa is very unstable and has to be deoxylated, meaning heated or exposed to sunlight to convert carbon atoms (think bread to toast) to break down into components that can then pass through the barrier. THCa, while not able to pass, is thought to be one of the compounds that is effective for treating forms of epilepsy.

How does CBD work as a carrier?

Because cannabinoids are so similar to the endocannabinoids produced by the human body, some interesting and potentially life saving research prospects for delivery of life saving medications and treatment for brain injuries, tumors, and potentially controlling post ischemic stroke damage have come to light. CBD passes with relative ease through the blood-brain barrier without changing chemically, and in particular is outstanding to act as a facilitator of neural messaging. This makes it a good potential vehicle to carry other materials or messages into the affected regions of the brain, or structures affecting the brain such as an aneurysm caused by a stroke, or a tumor. This ability to pass through, even with another particle attached, is referred to by scientists as a “Trojan horse”.

Lipid nanocapsules have been in use for some time to deliver medications to various parts of the body for treatment of certain forms of cancer, but they have been pretty unsuccessful in getting past the well-engineered blood-brain barrier. This has made treatment of brain cancer and multiple sclerosis frustrating, to say the least. Promising research is being done in Europe where cannabidiol molecules are acting as carriers for nanoparticles of medications, allowing much easier transition of the blood-brain barrier and delivery where scientists want the medications to go while being able to control the delivery. Other similar delivery methods of engineered nanoparticles (artificial particles created from synthetic organics, usually non-toxic plastic or resin, that encapsulate the medicine) are under trials, but so far none is as effective as those recently done utilizing CBD molecules as the carrier agents.

Scientists are not sure why the CBD works so much better, but they think it has to do with the cannabinoid-endocannabinoid similarities. CBD is unique in that it does not bind to the receptors that take the particles into the brain, but attaches to them, facilitating the receptors to take things into the brain themselves. They are also studying the fact that CBD acts as an immune modulator in the human body, the effects of which are just now being researched. Since the body readily allows the passage of the endocannabinoids it makes, it is thought the very similar and non-antagonistic cannabidiol molecules are recognized in the same fashion. What is known is that cannabinoids help endocannabinoids bind with proteins in the blood-brain barrier and attach to neurotransmitter receptors more easily.

Much research is left to be done, but a method of treating brain tumors that is faster, more sure, and far less invasive than methods currently available, as well as helping with the challenges presented by multiple sclerosis, could prove to be a big win all the way around. Scientists are hoping that what they learn may be of use in helping patients with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and neuropathic pain as well.

Tummy Talk

I have heard that taking CBD oil will upset my stomach or intestinal tract – Ugh! Please tell me it is not true.

We can tell you it is not true, and we will also tell you why you have heard it.

There is conflicting information out about CBD oil and if it will cause an upset stomach leading to full-blown nausea or diarrhea. Nearly all reputable organizations that are actively involved in researching CBD have come to the same conclusion – in excessively high doses (well past recommendations, and not following dosage instructions) there might in a few individuals who have a chance for a slightly upset stomach or diarrhea. Those doses have nearly always been in individuals far exceeding recommended maximum usage of any CBD product. As for diarrhea, in nearly all cases it was not the CBD that was problematic, it was the ingredients it had been blended with that caused the issues. CBD itself has a very low toxicity rating, and there have been no reported negative effects on the central nervous system, cognition, vital signs, or in negative mood reactions by test subjects or reporting users.

Following CBD dosage instructions is very important

Excess of anything is a problem, even if it is something with potential good. Heck, chocolate will cause all sorts of stomach and intestinal problems fast if you overindulge. The best thing we can tell you is use some common sense and please, follow the directions. If you drink hemp oil or coconut oil, as in drink it, yes it will make you “go”. So will safflower, corn, vegetable, olive, grape seed, and many if not all other oils. That is why grandmas handed out castor oil to fix when you were constipated! It lubricates the bowel and activates the body to create peristaltic action – the “have to go” feeling. Too much of anything is usually not a good idea. Pure organic CBD oil blended with an oil carrier is no exception.

Vid CBD oil is not a compound that if a little is good, a lot is great. Everyone’s body responds differently. Everyone’s levels of usage differs by what they, individually, need to feel their best. That is why we provide specific instructions on the use of the product in every box with every bottle of Vid CBD hemp oil we sell. It is common that people who utilize full spectrum CBD oil have to adjust their dosage down instead of up once their body begins to get healthier and working better*. Often CBD works better through what is called microdosing. See our Learn: Dosage page for more information.

Actually, the opposite is true for total spectrum CBD oil and nausea

One of the uses being heavily researched currently is actually on the opposite effect from stomach upset. It is well known that chemotherapy can cause serious nausea, vomiting, and upset stomach, as well as reduced or eliminated appetite. Clinical trials are showing great promise for the use of CBD and other cannabinoids for the alleviation of chemotherapy nausea responses, without the extreme medication (and cost) currently used to treat chemotherapy nausea with only mixed success. Something that is natural, gentle, and works better would be a big blessing for helping alleviate the discomfort chemo patients’ experience. Additional research is being planned, as cannabidiol also shows promise for reducing other cancer treatment related issues including to improve appetite, tumor reduction due to improved immune response, blood chemistry changes from unhealthy acidic to healthy alkaline, skin rashes alleviated, and other challenges, thereby providing a better environment for the patient’s physical and psychological healing process to begin*.

There are cases where people utilizing CBD oil have reported dry mouth, a slight change in appetite, and some drowsiness or fatigue. It is not known if drowsiness and fatigue are related directly to the CBD intake, or are secondary to the relaxation, reduced anxiety, and mood elevation* that are reported as initial findings by researchers. It could be that when you are less stressed, there are less cortisol (adrenaline, etc.) responses in the body, and you are aware of the relaxation and subsequent drowsiness or fatigue that has been present and that is no longer masked.

CBD doesn’t cause dry mouth, does it?

Dry mouth, or pasties as it is sometimes nicknamed, is an interesting thing. For many years thought to be a problem due to smoking Cannabis and the smoke drying out oral tissue, researchers have learned thanks to medical Cannabis use that any form of any Cannabis product can cause some dry mouth in varying degrees, even gummies. The issue is the really great job cannabinoids do in triggering the endocannabinoid system in your body. When cannabinoids “wake up” the endocannabinoids in your mouth, where there are a lot of those sleepy little receptors, they automatically send messages to tone down the parasympathetic nervous system. That is the system that controls digestion, your intestinal tract, heart rate, and guess what else – saliva production, since it is part of digestion. So yes, taking CBD can cause some limited dry mouth in sensitive individuals. The solution is really simple – sip water. Your body needs it to fix itself, so you get a 2-4-1 on the win-win scale.

Can CBD cause interactions?

One caveat to the possible side effects of CBD is it may interact with some prescription medications, just like grapefruit and some other citrus does, or actually cause your body to require less of a medication due to the improvement in endocannabinoid uptake. We will discuss the possibility of drug interactions or how CBD works with certain kinds of prescription drugs elsewhere on this site, because it is important to know and deserves its own treatment.

Always before starting or adding wide spectrum CBD hemp oil or any supplement to your wellness* regime consult your physician and your pharmacist (since they know more about what you are taking and how they interact) and discuss the use of CBD oil with them. They probably already have done quite a bit of study on the subject.

You have our word on that.

Brain dam infertility addictive

As with any new item that has a lot of potential and might just be healthy for you*, there are questions we hear over and over we would like to tackle head on, such as…

I have heard CBD damages brain cells - true?

Since industrial hemp was illegal to grow for over 60 years in the United States until the 2014 Farm Bill was signed Dec. 20, 2018, there was nearly zero work being done stateside to find out anything about hemp or CBD. Most of the research is either too new, or not enough of it, to make definitive statements about what pure CBD oil does and does not do as “proven” by the medical and pharmaceutical industries in the United States. However, there are many studies that have been conducted by leading research institutes elsewhere in the world. That being what it is, here at Vid we make no medical claims for our natural, all organic wide spectrum CBD hemp oil products except that we are bringing you a compound that Mother Nature makes that is very close to things your body makes and needs to survive. You make your own judgments and choices about using the compound for the wellness and well-being* you may be seeking.

That said, let’s talk about what we do know. To do that, we have to talk about a bit of biology.

We know that cannabinoids, of which CBD is one of over 200 so far identified, bind to receptor cells all over the body, but more in the brain. It was also thought for a long time that CBD, like THC, bound to CB1 receptor cells located all over the body, but a whole lot of them are in the brain. We now know that CBD does not act like THC and nearly all the rest of the cannabinoids in that it does not bind to CB1 cells. Those cells do a lot of things as far as the systems and responses they have input into and control over throughout the body, including those working on emotion, appetite, mood, thinking, coordination, movement, and memories, as well as a lot of other functions. CB2 receptor cells, the other important receptor that THC binds to, are also located all over, but they primarily deal with inflammation and pain. THC binds to both CB1 and CB2 receptor cells, and that is why THC’s psychotropic action affects all sorts of various systems in your body and appears to work on pain, in particular.

CBD does not bind to either CB1 or CB2 receptor cells, but to endocannabinoids, another form of receptor that has a more direct effect on the body because they are direct messengers to and through the neurotransmitters or nerve cells throughout your entire system. THC has to be broken down by heat to have a strong effect on the CB1 and CB2 cells. So far research shows that the less processed and more full range of cannabinoids that are presented to endocannabinoids in the body, the better they all work, and CBD is the molecule that acts as a “coach” to get the other cannabinoids to the reception spot on the endocannabinoid, gets them introduced and matched up, helps attach, and facilitates them working together.

It has been discovered there is a relationship, though, between CBD and THC besides having the same parent. CBD acts as a buffering agent to THC when THC is “doing its thing” in your system, part of the entourage effect. In other words, CBD tempers, controls to some extent, and modifies the psychoactivity THC exhibits, making some of the unpleasant responses diminish or disappear entirely. As Cannabis has been bred for increased THC content, CBD has sometimes been bred out, and now growers are realizing to provide the best experiences for medical and recreational users that the entourage effect is important for the best of their offerings as well.

CBD, unlike other cannabinoids, appears to act as a messenger or facilitator for the endocannabinoid receptors to take up, utilize, or replenish their own endocannabinoids from what scientists have been able to figure out. It has a direct relationship that basically tells the receptor “hey, relax, it’s ok, let this cannabinoid in” thereby allowing the body to gain what it is unable to produce on its own. The reason the body needs help has much to do with diet, exercise, medications, and the biggest things, environment and stressors that are part of your daily life. The endocannabinoid system and all the very finely tuned components of it are in delicate balance or homeostasis. It does not take much to throw it off kilter and create a situation where the body is not able to produce the kind, or as much of, a particular endocannabinoid as it takes to keep things functioning correctly. This is especially true for CB2 receptors that control allergic response, inflammation, and pain. Elsewhere in this site you will find more detailed information about the endocannabinoid system, and how it functions. It is really involved and is truly newly explored territory in the human body.

There is no evidence that CBD damages brain cells in any fashion. It also does not cause cognitive impairment, negative changes in vital signs, alteration of moods or negative affects on the central nervous system in all the research that has been done*. In fact, full spectrum CBD hemp oil has been found to improve vital signs, provide calming effects, improve mood, and enhances productivity*.

CBD can make me infertile I have heard. We are trying to conceive.

As for infertility, there have not been enough studies done yet to address the question, at least in the United States. To date there have been no negative issues found elsewhere in the world regarding fertility in all the research we have seen. Some groups are claiming CBD may help fertility*, but there is not enough evidence to support or detract either way, so the official stand regarding CBD oil at Vid is simply we do not know enough yet to comment.

Can I get addicted to CBD?

CBD oil, according to the World Health Organization and dozens of other well-respected research, medical and testing agencies world-wide have all stated CBD oil is not addictive and has no ability to create addiction within its components. It has shown no ability to create abuse syndromes in people who utilize it, either.

As for the addiction question, there have been accusations for decades that anything to do with Cannabis was addictive, and its use would lead to worse things. This was based on smear campaigns that came out of the 1930’s attempt to financially destroy the medical and industrial use of hemp in the United States so other pharmaceuticals and manufactured products could be sold in their place. There has never been in over 80 years of tests, trials, studies, and any other way you can track it, evidence that any component in hemp was addictive, either physically or psychologically. There is also no evidence ever been proven that hemp leads to the use of other, more damaging materials. Most all of the wide blanketing accusations are based on false information that was spread about THC. What they do not tell you is that artificial THC has been and is manufactured for a number of drug and medical purposes and is used throughout the world, including here stateside. What HPN grows, produces, and offers is an organic, fully natural, wide spectrum CBD hemp oil product that has well below the absolute maximum percentage for THC content set by federal law. It is not even the same thing all the naysayers are talking about.

It is worth saying that CBD oil is under a lot of research studies including those funded by federal grants as a contender to help deal with the opiate crisis. Components of full spectrum CBD hemp oil show tremendous promise for potentially replacing many prescription drugs for pain control, inflammation, depression treatment, mood disorders, anorexia, PTSD, and many other concerns*. There is also research supporting CBD oil’s potential use for smoking cessation, and trial participants and non-official study users all report that cravings just stop*. There is a lot of healthy potential out there, and Vid is anxious to see what researchers get to share with us next.

In closing, regarding panic and fear spread for whatever means…

Human beings are sadly led around by other human beings looking to make a profit and sell their own stuff. If they make patients instead of helping people get well, they make a lot more money. Those with less than humanitarian ideals often accuse other things of being “evil” to justify or hide their own avarice. A lot of that information sadly only comes out after a fast push through the approval agencies when people start getting sick – really sick – or worse. Hemp’s history of being used for wellness* is thousands of years old. You have to be your own judge, and make decisions for your own wellness. We are not telling you not to do what your doctor says, or to not take care of important medical matters. On the contrary, we want you to always consult with your doctor before you start or change any supplemental routine you have. It is the responsible thing to do. We know at Vid-CBD that listening to your body will tell you a lot, and often what you need, natural or conventional.

You have our word on that.

What You Put In Your Body Matters

Why Pure Spectrum CBD Matters

The old expression “you are what you eat” has a lot of truth to it. What we put in our body and expose it to is what it has to work with to create cells, build bones and muscle tissue, and provide us energy, let alone what is going on in our heads. The whole process is pretty amazing when you think about it, all the parts working together, reliant on other tiny parts to do what they are programmed to do, with what they have to work with. That is why good, healthy nutrition, clean, pure water, unpolluted air, and a little “forest bath time” are good for you. It provides all those complex, marvelous parts what they need to do their job correctly with a whole lot less stress attached.

That is why Vid is so dedicated to making sure we grow the finest quality, no pesticides, no artificial fertilizer, no anything that does not come from Mother Nature hemp we possibly can. We truly believe that for our well being, for the well being of our planet, we have to be responsible stewards to what we raise, and what we produce. That is also why any information we can share with you will be the best we can present, and never a pitch. We want you to make informed decisions about what you choose to utilize for your family and your own wellness and well being* because we know we are all in this together on this big blue ball.

There is an axiom that if you cannot pronounce it or spell it, you probably should not be putting it in your body. When you read our labels, you see plain, easy to read, no games played ingredient lists. We tell you exactly what is in every bottle and what is the concentration. We use only organically grown products, whether it is aerial hemp parts from our organically cultivated plants that our wide spectrum, total sphere of available components CBD is made from, or the MCT (medium chain triglyceride coconut oil, also organic) that we use to blend and stabilize the product. We use the entire plant above the dirt, too, so you get all the best of everything the hemp plant has to offer – cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, phenols, chlorophyll, you name it, it is in our pure spectrum CBD oil. We know all those things Mother put there for a reason, kind of like her chicken soup, and we want to make sure you get them, too.

Wouldn’t Pure CBD Oil Be Better?

You would think so, but not exactly. CBD is a very potent compound, and every single user of the product reacts to it differently*. That is why you will find detailed, specific instructions on how to start slow, at a low amount, and move up from there, as well as discussions about microdosing. You’ll even find a My Vid-CBD Oil Log you can download or print out to keep track of the quantity you use, how you feel, and time and date you use it. Because your body works in harmony with the planet, and sets its own circadian and biochemical cycles, it is important to try to use your pure spectrum hemp oil every day at relatively the same time. Your body will assimilate it better, and make better use of the components through the endocannabinoid system. Consistency is key for the best potential response.

The reason we have different strengths – designated by the “mg” (milligrams) with a number in front on our labels – is to let you know what the strength, i.e. quantity or concentration, is of the hemp CBD extract in that particular mixture. The MCT serves a vital purpose, as cannabidiol oil, CBD, is an oily acid. The actual term is “hydrophobic”, one you will know but probably don’t know the real meaning of – it means something that hates, or dispels, water. Oil and water do not mix. You will see some companies selling all sorts of modified CBD products that claim they are water soluble CBD. They are not. They are encapsulated or chemically changed CBD in order to mix as a suspension in water, often covered in resin or plastic to create balls of water that encircle and encase the CBD. We don’t believe that any chemical alteration to the CBD is a good thing, especially when your body is made to utilize it in its purest form, and the idea of drinking plastic our body has to try and break down or get rid of is pretty gross. Pure organic full spectrum CBD oil has a much higher absorption rate than any altered CBD product according to all studies.

So It Does Contain Pure CBD?

Yes, mixed with MCT, as well as lots and lots of other good stuff contained in total hemp extract – a complete profile. Our MCT is organic coconut oil that is manufactured so it provides medium chain triglycerides, or healthy fats that your body can utilize for fuel much faster. It is also a very good compliment to CBD and allows the body to absorb CBD faster and more completely, thereby getting more of the good stuff into your body quicker, a process called bioavailability. The CBD needs an oil to be able to be more bioavailable. Bioavailability is a pharmacy term that lets you know how much of a tiny dose of an unaltered compound gets into your system, how fast, and how easy or difficult it is. CBD oil needs another oil to mix with to “do its thing”. Fatty acids are distributed best through the circulatory system, and directly into the endocannabinoid system via numerous receptor systems, including the mouth and intestines. That is why we tell our customers to use wide spectrum CBD oil directly under their tongue – sublingually – and to hold it. Blood vessels are very close to the surface under your tongue and the bioavailability, i.e. how well it absorbs, is much higher using this method when enjoying your product. There are lots of ways to utilize CBD, but this is the best one to get the most out of it.

Organic CBD Oil is Just Part of a Healthy Lifestyle*

Just like adding CBD for life and wellness improvement, there are other things that go along with positive changes for wellness*. Clean water and lots of it are extremely important when you utilize CBD, because it might make you a bit thirsty. A diet of whole foods CBD oil included can provide your body the nutrients, fiber, micronutrients, antioxidants, and other building blocks it needs to create, repair, replace, and heal. Taking a stretch break to go get your CBD container or walking outside in the beautiful world we live in helps. We know at Vid in order to thrive CBD is just a potential part of the equation, and is not a cure all. We make no medical claims, but there is a lot of great research coming out from all over the globe looking promising about the potential benefits of organic hemp oil. Find ways that work for you to add organic CBD oil into your daily routine, whether adding to make a CBD shake or smoothie, or getting a stress releasing CBD oil massage (which will also condition your skin). Each way has benefits towards potentially improving your wellness*, with lower stress levels*, better utilization and operation of body systems*, helping with moods and emotions*, and other things.

We just know at Vid that less is usually more, in terms of your body. Give it what it needs, and not just what it wants.

You have our word on that.

Where to buy

Why is where I buy CBD important?

Probably the easiest answer is you need to know what you are buying, first and foremost. It is sad but true that according to the Department of Agriculture, 30% or more of the products on the market today labeled CBD are not. Another batch beyond that are made of hemp seed oil. While hemp seed oil may be healthy, it contains no cannabinoids, therefore no CBD, and simply cannot provide even one glimpse of the benefits that cannabinoids are promising towards your wellness*. That is why it is important to know where to buy CBD oil from a credible, up front, transparent grower/processor dedicated to producing organic CBD oil – cannabidiol oil that is total spectrum, closely monitored, and with your safety and well being in mind first and foremost.

Two other important factors are where the hemp is grown, and how. All Vid-CBD oil is made from organically grown and processed, no-till agriculture practices industrial hemp. Our products are as pure as we can grow, process, and bottle them. They are all grown without pesticides, insecticides, or any other “-cides” that can expose you to anything of any kind that should not be going in your body.

Every plant that goes into any product Vid offers is grown in the United States. We not import any hemp extract. We know each and every grower and monitor his or her farm management to insure the best, cleanest, most bioavailable hemp we can grow. While there are some imports that are good quality, primarily from Europe and from companies with long track records of growing organically for medical research, the vast majority of imports are highly suspect, with no traceable history or provenance, and handle and extracted by who knows what methods. Many we have seen tested from some overseas sources come back laden with heavy metals, pesticide residue, and other unwelcome and even dangerous contents. We believe in supporting local farmers, providing local jobs, and having a complete chain of quality control available, something you cannot have when products are grown and processed overseas.

If it were our bodies, if it were us using something with this much potential for interacting with nearly every critical system inside us, well, we would like to know where the stuff came from, how it was grown, and was the plant and laboratory spotless that it was produced in? Did they make sure there were no pesticides, insecticides, fungicides, GMO’s, or heavy metal contaminants anywhere near the plants or processing? Those questions do not even touch on the social concerns of how their workers were treated, were they paid a fair wage so they could feed their families, and how many miles did it get shipped and for how long and how many carbon and water credits were covered for it coming thousands of miles? HPN believes strongly in protecting your wellness and our planet, while providing the highest quality products we are able to manufacture for our Vid-CBD and other lines.

We strongly believe industrial hemp can help save family farms, and has the potential for making a huge difference in people’s wellness and well being*. We are betting you do, too, and we think you will agree after using our high quality complete profile products.

How do I pick out where to buy CBD products?

When you are deciding what CBD product to try or use, several things come to mind almost immediately about who should get your business. You can see above how we feel about knowing what goes into the product and how the farmers and processors are treated. There is more to it than just that.

You need to take a good look at the packaging, labels, and instructions with every CBD oil product of any type you are thinking about purchasing. It is double or triple sealed to keep the product safe? We child resistant, tamper proof double seal our bottles, use tamper evident droppers, and seal our packaging. Does the label tell you exactly what is in the product, and clearly the concentration and how much the bottle holds? You would be surprised how many companies will not tell you the amount in their packaging. Ours are clearly marked and consistent between all products. Are the instructions clear and easy to follow? Ours are as simple as it gets. Is there a website address and/or other means to contact the company if you have issues or questions? We have a call center available 24/7/365, and do not hide our contact information, because we are above board and transparent in everything we do, as well as being totally legal. Does the label or package make any crazy claims, or does their website? Ours has no unproven claims, and not only is our website listed, so is our address. You can note we are US based, not some foreign country. Does the website tell you where the company is located even? Fully. Or where they are licensed and where their hemp is grown? All in the USA, Colorado and North Carolina, with plants in both locations.

In other words, you need to be a good consumer, but you should be about anything that goes in your body, period. When you go into a store that sells CBD, you do not know how long it has been on the shelf, or how it was stored, let alone where it came from. Supporting independent organic producers puts you in direct contact with knowledgeable, trained people who can answer your questions. You will not get that in a store, even ones selling medical or recreational Cannabis, because their budtenders are trained to deal with a totally different set of information. HPN believes in meeting the need for increased wellness and well-being*, and doing it responsibly. That is why we suggest you start with the lowest dosage full spectrum organic CBD hemp oil we sell first, and then work up in dosage as you may need to reach your wellness goals.

At Vid we never get upset if a customer calls us and asks questions, because we know we need to help them find the real answers to what they need to know. Our website, as you can tell, is straight from the hip. We want to educate our customers because we know healthier people, healthier pets, are happier people and pets. Happier usually means a lot better place for everyone to live together on this big, blue ball.

Can I buy quality CBD oil online?

Yes, you can, and in many ways, it is the best way, since many states are not nearly as far along in cultivation and safe, organic practices for growing industrial hemp as Colorado. We have expanded into growing and processing in North Carolina due to available pristine growing soil and conditions, which allows us to process and ship with less carbon footprint and to get product in your hands faster. Since Colorado was one of the first two states to legalize recreational as well as medical Cannabis, and North Carolina early on was growing under grant for medical research, we have more than a few years experience over most all other states. Thanks to the personal need to heal, HPN’s founder has several decades of knowledge, proprietary cultivation, and technology behind the practices we use to grow our high cannabinoid content hemp.

HPN’s principals are also heavily involved with governmental issues, medical research, and industry standards, all from a pure organic position. When you purchase Vid-CBD, your purchase is via a secured site, with a third party secured payment system. We have a trained group of specialists available at “Call Ruby” to answer your questions. We take great pride in what we do, and stand behind every product we make.

At Vid, helping improve conditions is what it is all about, whether it is your wellness*, the planet, or life in general. We sort of live our lives like that.

You have our word on that.

CBD Manufacturing

Our Moral Compass: How HPN Feels About CBD Manufacturing and Marketing

CBD is the old “new” method on the “let’s see what else is out there” wellness* block. Everyone is jumping into the lucrative business model in one form or another. While competition is great and we believe in the American dream of free enterprise, it also concerns us at Vid. We know a lot goes into making a product that is as clean, natural, and good as we can produce it. We spent a lot of energy and money learning how, and spend even more getting it to you. It is not the money investment that has us concerned, though. It is the money people stand to make if they cut corners, and have no moral compass about how they put more in their pockets.

There are some really honorable companies out there that we respect, study, and look up to in the industry. We know they do things right and they work hard to provide the public the best hemp products and information they are able to, hopefully providing a platform for improving the life of the person utilizing their – and our – products. Sadly, there are way too many “companies” who are more worried about stacking up their profit margins than taking care of their customers, over charging, under delivering, and making business models based on massive profits for their up-lines and not the farmer or people in the trenches. Some of them are not even selling what they claim, pure false advertising and taking advantage of the consumer who does not know the difference between CBD oil and hemp seed oil. We try to educate our customers, because we believe that making the choice of adding CBD for life improvement* is a smart one, and we want you to have honest facts about what you are putting into your system.

The approval process and laboratory work required to really know what you are putting out to the public is a long, expensive one. It takes trained scientists, researchers, laboratory technicians, and ultra-clean, constantly monitored facilities. It takes intense attention to detail in the daily care and the raising of hemp plants that those products are made from. It means constant attention to regulations and legalities, constantly in flux and application. It takes a strong moral compass to do the right thing, looking out for your fellow man and being conscious of the planet while still being good, responsible business owners. And, we know you can buy CBD oil a lot of places, and we hope you choose to buy it from Vid.

Our Take on Providing the Best Pure CBD Oil Possible

That is why Vid-CBD takes such a strong stand on quality control and chain of responsibility for all our products. We first manufactured for the medical industry, and doctors were our primary clients. We have very high control standards that start with our seed, and continue from the moment the seed is germinated through shipping and placement of the product at the retail location. We did not even trust the available shipping methods where we had no control over the supply chain – our trained, background cleared representatives hand delivered and set up the racks to doctor offices across the country, making sure triple seals were intact, bottles were undamaged, all instructions were available, and questions answered.

There is considerable expense that goes into manufacturing, and where the materials come from that are in any quality product, and Vid-CBD oil is no exception. There is a lot you have to check, including where the plants are grown, has the soil been tested, what conditions are the plants grown under, and what are the plants exposed to. This covers a range of things from the seed source, the fertilizers and soils used, even the ambient air that is pumped in around the plants. All the Green Growing Best Practices in the world are no good if the plants are bathed in left over fumes from a freeway. At Vid we know where our seed comes from, we painstakingly test our soil, water, and air quality, we only use organic, natural fertilizer and pest control. We want to know every single thing that affects the quality of our hemp, so we can provide you hemp oil – organic CBD oil – that is as good as we possibly can.

The chain of control inside the manufacturing plant is critical. Cannabidiol oil, as a natural product, has a range of temperatures that need maintained during the manufacturing process to keep the integrity and components of the product intact. What we mean by that is get it too hot, it will break down some of the most essential compounds contained in the oil. Get it too cold, you can damage the molecules of the product, causing alteration. Conditions have to be ultra sterile, because we know you want the cleanest, freshest, most bioavailable pure CBD product on the market. Our packaging process is rigorously controlled, with every step monitored to assure an ultra clean, pure product is bottled every time. Difference Between Hemp and CBD Oil

What is the difference Between Hemp Oil and CBD Oil?

Before we can really answer that question, we need to define what each one is, and is not. Both sets of facts are very important for you to make a good consumer decision and to know exactly what you are getting when you buy products that are labeled hemp oil, CBD oil, or full spectrum CBD oil, as they are not the same, equivalent, nor do they provide the same potential for benefits*. While both hemp seed oil and CBD oil are healthy to use and can be good for you*, they come from very different parts of the plant, have different chemical properties, do different things, and are used differently.

Hemp oil, which is most often hemp seed oil, is mostly sourced from Cannabis sativa plant seed, i.e. industrial hemp. Hemp seed oil is a regulated product, and is tested by the FDA and other regulatory agencies for both THC and CBD levels. It does not, however, contain either of those cannabinoids. Laboratory tests have shown repeatedly throughout history that there are no cannabinoids present in seed obtained from industrial hemp, and the hemp seed oil you buy will not get you high, or even feeling good. It might however get you a little healthier.

So What is Hemp Oil? I’ve Been Paying a Lot For It!

Hemp oil is generally defined as the oil obtained by pressing or processing hemp seed, and does not come from the rest of the hemp plant. While it is nutritionally rich in Omega oils, it does not contain CBD, the cannabinoid that works with our bodily endocannabinoid system. The correct term is hemp seed oil, and much is being sold mislabeled at ridiculously high prices. It is great to cook with, though!

Does Hemp Oil That is Seed Based Contain CBD Oil?

No, it does not. Period. Despite what a lot of companies would like you to think.

That is the sad part, too, as some – many in some arenas – of the products being sold as CBD oil are hemp seed oil and nothing more. Sometimes this is due to where the product is being sold and trying to deal with uneducated or out of date rules. More often than not, though, it is unscrupulous companies trying to sell you snake oil. There is no CBD in hemp seed oil, and you will not get any of the potential results or health and wellness benefits* you are seeking from it. If you see hemp extract from aerial parts, or something to that effect, you may be getting some CBD, so the next question is look for a concentration, like 300 mg. Lots of hemp seed oil is merely labeled hemp oil, so check.

So If Hemp Seed Oil Has No CBD, then what is Full Spectrum Hemp Oil I Keep Seeing?

Like we said, hemp oil is hemp seed oil in nearly all cases. It has no CBD or any other cannabinoids in it. It does have some nutritional value and potential for limited health benefits*.

Before we explain what full spectrum oil is, though, we need to make a “legal disclaimer” about the differences. CBD taken from Cannabis, i.e. the plant that produces psychoactive THC, is legal in states that have passed medical and recreational usage laws. CBD hemp oil, on the other hand, is legal in all 50 states under the 2014 Farm Bill that was signed into law December 20, 2018. While this sounds like hair splitting, it is not when it comes to what you are actually getting in the products you are purchasing. Too many companies are selling hemp seed oil and labeling it hemp oil, hoping to dupe customers into thinking they are getting CBD oil, which they are not. Some are selling hemp seed oil with “hemp extract”… well, hemp seed oil is hemp extract. Hemp oil might be CBD oil, but certainly not all hemp oil is CBD oil. You need to read the labels carefully and if there is not clear disclosure, it does not state CBD and content, full aerial parts of plants and full spectrum, wide, total, or complete spectrum and full bioavailability, set the bottle down and move on.

However, if you are seeing any of the above on your bottle of CBD oil’s label or in an advertisement or posting, there are a couple of things that might be happening. First, the company may be dealing with online sales vehicles that still follow the grey, out of date CSA rules, and they have to label their products to comply. Turn the bottle over. There are a couple of things to look for. First of all, Full Spectrum means that the whole plant is used in extraction but it is basically raw.. If there is one word about cold press extraction, Omega-3, -6, or -9 fatty acids, isolate, or anything like it on the label, you are dealing with hemp seed oil and not CBD, or in the case of isolate, a refined, limited product made with harsh chemicals, no matter what they claim. CBD oil does not have the same nutritional analysis as hemp seed oil, as it contains no Omegas. If it has aerial parts, total, complete, wide spectrum, deoxylated, or anything indicating it has complete hemp extract in it, it probably is CBD oil. Next check the concentration to make sure it looks like an industry standard measurement, and that both concentration and package weight or content is listed. Any reputable company will tell you both those figures. You can quickly see what we are talking about on any of our Vid labels.

Vid 300 mg label here

Hemp seed oil has to be cold pressed and CBD oil pretty much cannot be in order to gain the best benefit from the compounds.   CO2 or an alcohol process extracts it, and any residual materials are distilled out. (That is how we do it here at Vid, food grade ethanol – grain alcohol – that is all completely removed through low temperature distillation.) Hemp seed oil is very inexpensive to produce compared to CBD oil, and you can get a quart for under $20.  Or at least, you should be able to. Too often we see hemp oil labeled as CBD that has no CBD in it at all, in fact, they even cut hemp seed oil with coconut oil or grapeseed oil and sell it for the price near that of CBD oil to hood-wink the consumer into thinking they are getting a real bargain.

You aren’t. You are getting over charged and under delivered, simple as that.

Look for words that describe the wide range of components, aerial parts,  and the words CBD and a recognized carrier like MCT or coconut oil on the label and in all the images on the label. We use MCT – medium-chain triglyceride organic coconut oil. It is a stable product with a two-year shelf life, making our Vid-CBD oil very stable to ship, and is nutritionally dense, healthy carrier oil.  Check out the website to see what it shows. Legitimate companies are not afraid to show their products and how to find where they are sold, with analysis, and how to get ahold of them on their websites. Honest CBD and hemp product companies want you to know the truth, and fly above the radar, just like Vid does.

If there is no CBD, is Hemp Seed Oil Good For You?

Hemp seed oil is protein dense, high in polyunsaturated fats, and is one of the known sources of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids that are essential to the human diet. The Omega fatty acids occur in a ratio that is considered by many to be optimal for utilization in humans. Hemp seed oil is also high in Vitamin E, an antioxidant compound that helps fight free radicals. It is a staple in the cosmetics industry, is used for cooking, and in biofuel.

You can buy hemp seed oil in most health food stores or even the gourmet cooking section of your local grocery. Some people use it in place of olive oil and in smoothies. Hemp seed oil is also high in gamma linoleic acid, which may help you lose weight*. Of course, any oil substitution must be accompanied by a healthy diet in moderation and exercise to achieve healthy, if any, weight loss.

What is Hemp Seed Oil Good For?

Hemp seed has high oil content and is cold processed to retain the nutritional value of the seed. It is greenish in color, and it needs to be kept refrigerated once opened. (If you do not refrigerate it, hemp seed oil will go rancid in about two weeks.) It blends well for salad dressings. Hemp seed oil is unique in that it does not convert its polyunsaturated fats into trans fats upon heating. It does, however, have a low to medium flash point, so for cooking it is recommended to blend it with avocado oil (twice the flash point of olive oil) at a ratio of 1:10 to gain the healthy benefits of cooking with both.

Uses for Hemp Oil Include Industrial

Hemp oil is also one of the original biofuels. Henry Ford designed his “Tin Lizzie” Model T to run on either gasoline or hemp seed oil. Hemp seed is plentiful, cheap, and is used to make lubricants, paint, plastics, biodegradable products, many health and beauty compounds ranging from shampoo and conditioner to soap, and is a common replacement for petroleum products.

Make Sure When You Buy Pure CBD Oil You are Getting Organic CBD Oil, Not Hemp Seed Oil

Vid believes in educating their customers so they know what they are getting. Be a conscious consumer, whether it is rolling the box over to see what is in your oil or vape cartridge, or checking the ingredient label on your gum or pain rub. What you put in, or on, your body is what goes through your body and has a lot of potential to help or harm your health*. Look for organic full spectrum CBD, and clear labeling for content, percentages, and counts. You will be glad you did.

All Vid products are clearly labeled, with contents, volumes, and detailed dosage instructions included. We want our customers to know that we value you as a customer and want you to get the best full spectrum CBD product for your money.

You have our word on that.
